President's Message

First, I want to thank everyone that participated in the recent survey we created. The response was tremendous (nearly 40% of the regular members answered the survey, which is extraordinary!). There were many excellent suggestions about things the Society can do to improve things for the members. The information we collected is being carefully reviewed by the Executive committee and we will sincerely try to accommodate as many ideas and suggestions from the membership as we can. I will present a brief overview of the findings at the upcoming business meeting. Thank you all for your contributions.

Next, I want to mention some of the work that the Development ad-hoc committee have been up to. They have now created an online donation site using a program by Crowdrise, an organization which helps non-profits raise funds. The site is now up and running, awaiting your contributions. There is a link to the site on the home page of the SPPonline website. Crowdrise is a well regarded organization and you can rest assured that donations and credit card information are entirely secure. An exciting part of this fundraiser is that for every donation made, an equal amount will be donated from funds set aside from the general operating fund, making the donation go twice as far. Matching will continue until we reach the goal of $50,000 in donations. Please consider making a donation. The money will be used to assure funding for existing awards and if possible, allow the creation of a second young investigator award.

Things are really shaping up for the Spring SPP meeting March 1-3. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone in Baltimore.

Linda Margraf
SPP President
