In 1991, the Society’s Pathologist-in-Training award was named in memory
of Gordon L. Vawter, a pathologist and mentor at Boston Children’s
Hospital. The Vawter Award recognizes the best platform or poster
presentation by a pathologist in training (resident, fellow, medical or
dental student) at the spring and fall meetings of the Society. The
trainee must be the first author and presenter of the abstract, and must
request consideration in the competition by checking the appropriate box
on the abstract submittal form.
The winner will receive an illuminated
certificate, $500 cash award, and recognition in the Society Newsletter.
